After Clomid

Infertility can be the most stressful thing you’ve ever had to face. Each individual experiences infertility in his or her own unique way, but feeling alone, anxious, or even out of control are common reactions.

We really care about you! We do not want patients to feel sad, anxious, guilty, lonely or angry as they go through the treatment process. The physical rigors of fertility treatment are enough to manage. Here are some suggestions for coping more effectively:

  • Begin/continue treatment with an open mind and a positive attitude – never say never!
  • Develop a stress management program – simplify!
  • Confide in select friends and family members.
  • Join CRM’s patient-mentor program or our online support group. No one understands your feelings better than others who have experienced infertility.
  • Be gentle with yourself and avoid uncomfortable social situations such as baby showers, or certain family gatherings.
  • Grieve your losses, and engage in individual or couples therapy if necessary. We can recommend someone to meet with.

It is important to maintain the perspective that treatment is a means to an end, and to realize that you may very likely become a parent someday soon. And remember that until then, we are here to help.
