Egg Donation
Become an Egg Donor … Help Make Miracles Happen
INFORMATION FOR POTENTIAL OOCYTE DONORS:
Oocyte donation provides an excellent option for achieving pregnancy in women previously thought to be unable to conceive. With the greater accessibility of female oocytes (eggs) through in vitro fertilization (IVF) techniques, oocyte donation has become increasingly popular since its first introduction in 1983. Donors are healthy young women who are 28 years of age and younger without history of genetic diseases. All prospective egg donors must go through a thorough screening process that includes a detailed history and physical examination, psychological evaluation and genetic screening as well as screening for sexually transmitted diseases.
The egg donation process is strictly anonymous and confidential.
Anonymous donors are compensated financially for their time, inconvenience, discomfort and risk. The costs of medical care relating to ovulation induction and egg retrieval are paid for by the couple(s) who receives the eggs.
YOU SHOULD NOT APPLY AS AN EGG DONOR IF:
- You are unable to discontinue birth control pills for 1-2 months.
- You are a smoker or are using illegal or certain prescribed medications.
- You are under 21 years of age or over 28 years of age (even if you are extremely healthy).
- You have been exposed to Hepatitis or HIV (AIDS).
- You have been turned down for blood donation.
- You have had a body piercing and/or tattoo within one year.
- Your schedule is not flexible enough to accommodate approximately two weeks of frequent, possibly daily visits to CRM.
- There are genetic diseases that run in your family.
- You are using Norplant or Depo-Provera for birth control and do not wish to discontinue (other forms of birth control such as an IUD or Birth Control pills etc. are fine).
- You have had a child within 6 months or are breastfeeding
