IVF Program

Finance

At this time, there are no grants, state funds or other means of financial support available for the IVF program. Program fees are necessary to partially defray the professional, facility, and laboratory expenses incurred in and IVF treatment cycle. Couples should be prepared to pay for all services in advance. Our billing staff will assist you in completing any necessary paperwork for submission to your insurance carrier for possible reimbursement.

After an initial informational meeting, a detailed screening appointment will be necessary. This is a consultation with either Dr. DeVane or Dr. Loy or Dr. Jaffe and the IVF nursing staff. A physical exam will be performed on the wife, including an ultrasound.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines, blood will be taken from both wife and husband for screening of sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV and Hepatitis B and C. Cultures will also be taken from both for Chlamydia. These will be sent to the appropriate laboratory as indicated by the patient’s insurance carrier. Please be prepared to provide the laboratory staff with current information so that the correct laboratory may be utilized to maximize potential insurance coverage. All billing for these tests will come directly from the reference laboratory.

The IVF consultation and screening lab studies are not considered part of the overall IVF treatment cycle. A detailed explanation of charges will be provided and any questions about financial matters may be discussed with a financial counselor.

It is anticipated that many insurance companies that provide coverage for infertility evaluation and/or treatment may also cover portions of the expense for screening studies. Some may even offer coverage for the IVF treatment cycle. However, many insurance carriers still do not consider IVF treatment as a covered benefit.

Two additional financial options for IVF are “Shared Risk Refund IVF” through Integramed (www.integramed.com) and a “line of credit” available through Family Fee Plan (www.familyfeeplan.com). The “Shared Risk Refund IVF” provides the opportunity for more treatment at a lower overall cost. The “line of credit” from Family Fee Plan offers a low-interest rate loan, for qualified applicants, that can be used for infertility and IVF therapy. Please visit their websites for details on these programs.
