The laboratory at CRM's Celebration office is fully licensed and offering andrology services. The Commission of Office Laboratory Accreditation (COLA) inspected the lab and its programs, noting no deficiencies. The CRM lab staff can perform IUI preparations, semen analysis, and sperm antibodies. New! CRM had a recent on-site inspection. The lab once again was accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP). Accreditation must be renewed every two years. CRM was “congratulated for the excellence of the services being provided,” according to a press release issued from CAP.
The laboratory at CRM is an integral part of the fertility center and has the highest possible credentials. The lab is accredited by a state agency such as
Commission on Office Laboratory Assessment (COLA), certified by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and affiliated with the Society of Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART) – SART member practices must annually report their data.
The CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program is recognized by the federal government as being equal to or more stringent than the government's own inspection program. During the CAP accreditation process, inspectors examine the laboratory's records and quality control procedures for the preceding two years. CAP inspectors also examine the entire staff's qualifications, the lab equipment, facilities, safety program and record, as well as the overall management of the laboratory.
Laboratories often have a part-time or visiting scientist but the lab at CRM has an on-site PhD embryologist who has been with the lab team for more than 12 years.
