The Center for Reproductive Medicine (CRM) is holding the Joy of Parenthood 5K Fun Run-Walk at beautiful Lake Eola Park in downtown Orlando on May 13, 2006 .

Twenty years ago, Dr. Gary DeVane welcomed Central Florida 's first IVF baby. CRM has since helped thousands upon thousands of families. CRM: Where dreams are conceived .™ We wanted to do something BIG to celebrate these monumental two decades by raising money for an infertility support group and educating the public about infertility issues – both while celebrating the joy of parenting and encouraging family fitness and fun.

The Joy of Parenthood 5K is family-oriented – strollers welcome! – noncompetitive, and open to the entire Central Florida community . For confidentiality reasons, nothing will designate those who have faced infertility issues (many ‘nonpatients' are participating).

After the event, in Lake Eola Park, there will be several contests with great prizes, including a birthday party giveaway and kid fitness camp week, as well as children's games. If you've never completed a 5K before, grab a friend, plan on catching up with a short chat/walk, and get ready for some major goosebumps when you cross the finish line. It's that easy and FUN and the perfect place to get a 5K under your belt. If you're already a 5K pro, invite the family (the family with the most entrants wins a prize, as well as family with the most generations represented!)

All proceeds will benefit RESOLVE, the nonprofit advocacy and support group for those battling infertility. The Joy of Parenthood 5K will be held Mother's Day weekend, but is a celebration of motherhood AND fatherhood. It is an unofficial timed event. What does that mean? We have a scoring system in place, but are not using the ‘exact science' of computerized microchips.

Prizes
The top male and female 1st-place finishers each will receive $500. The second place winners each will receive $250 each and the third place winners each will receive $125.

All participants receive a free Joy of Parenthood T-shirt and a goodie bag. Registration is $12 through April 1 OR $15 April 2-May 2 OR $20 on event day. T-shirts and/or correct sizes are not guaranteed to those who register on or after Friday, May 5.

To sponsor the Joy of Parenthood 5K please fill out a sponsorship form (pdf). Sponsors will have their name on event T-shirts given to all participants and have the opportunity to put a promotional item in goodie bags given to all walkers and runners.
